The Science of Astrology

Science of astrology has always fascinated mankind. In modern times the stresses and strains of modern life have compelled us to re-discover astrological consultations more than before. Today the practitioners of medicine and psychiatry are seeking astrology. Many of them believe that it is easier to diagnose an ailment through a horoscope and pinpoint the seat of trouble than it is through complex pathological and medical or mechanical devices. Many well known psychiatrists have accepted the role astrology towards remedy of psychological problems.

For us, the followers of Vedic religion, astrology has always been a part of our lives and because of its origin in the Vedas, we have considered it to be a dynamic science in the service of humanity. It is through astrology we discovered the mystery of the solar system and its various members. Since the immemorial we have known the extent to which earth and its inhabitants are influenced by the various planets. The human body is made of five elements; fire, water, earth, air and sky according to our religion. Sky obviously means the electro-magnetic force released by the members of the solar system and which are received and counter balanced by the earth. This should indicate that any disturbance in the solar system is bound to react on the life on earth and also on the children born.

For example even science has proven that when the sun is more active and releases stronger radioactive waves, the children born during this period are healthier and have a successful life. The converse is also true. It has further been established that the life on Earth is greatly influenced by the cosmic waves and electro-magnetic forces. Thus the fields of energy all around us are influencing every moment of our life and the moment the child is born it is exposed to such a vast field of energy. Our astrological science tells us that as soon as a child is born, it is exposed to the various fields of energy and develops sympathies and antipathies according to the planetary juxtaposition at the moment of birth. Different planets send on to this earth different radioactive waves from different angles to which the child is exposed at the moment of birth and which decides its subsequent life pattern.

In order to further understand the science of astrology, let us take the example of Moon. Moon causes tidal waves on earth. Water in the ocean is attracted and it causes high tides when the Moon is full. The human body is very greatly influenced by the planet Moon because our body contains nearly 70% of water and fluids. This also explains why certain crimes are increased during the period nearing the full Moon. Certain diseases also get aggravated during this period. Just as the Moon causes tidal waves, it also disturbs the blood and watery fluids of the human system. It has been seen that surgical operations performed on full moon days cause severe hemorrhage. Now that we have understood the significance of planetary influence, the question arises as to what is the role of astrology in preventing or lessening the bad influences of planets in our lives. In my opinion by predicting the influences of extra-torrential life forces astrology can provide vocational guidance. It should however be not confused with cheap fortune-telling, casting a horoscope on a scientific basis can warn an individual of future physical and mental diseases .If the physical and psychological diseases can he diagnosed with the aid of astrology much can be done to cure the ailing patients by the experts of medicine and psychiatry. Arya Surendra Shastri through this Panchang has given us wealth of information regarding the celestial activities in 1999.
